Harmon Campbell, the airports founder, sold the airport to Ray and Julia Van Sickle in 1965.

On October 26, 1966 the Van Sickles applied for a "Special Exception for the Purpose of Extending an Existing Airport". Source: The Lebanon Reporter (October 26, 1966) which was approved November 7, 1966 by the Boone County Board of Zoning Appeals.

FAA December 1, 1965 Airport Facility Record noted a North/South paved runway 3550' x 62' and a Northeast/Southwest grass runway 2850' x 100'. The original airport consisted of 207 acres. The Van Sickles expanded the airport onto an additional 40 acres as per the Special Exception granted on November 7, 1966. Montgomery Aviation, Inc. is the Fixed Base Operator of Indianapolis Terry Airport under agreement dated and recorded July 1, 2001. Source Boone County Recorders Office.

Montgomery Aviation, Inc. Improvement Location Permit ILP issued November 16, 2001 is for a building to replace a 50 year old office and hanger that is to be removed later to comply with new FAA regulations.

Montgomery Aviation, Inc. is not in control of any of the issues the Boone Hamilton Homeowners Association is concerned about as expressed in their public meeting on March 5, 2002 at Union Elementary School such as:
1. Types of aircraft that can use the airport

The Montgomery Aviation, Inc. ILP is located on the original 207 acres of the airport in 1966.

Montgomery Aviation, Inc. is a small family owned business established in 1989 and has nothing to do with airport ownership and airport policy. Montgomery Aviation, Inc. runs a Cessna Pilot Center (Flight School), a FAA Certified Repair Station, and the Fixed Base Operations which includes hanger rental, ramp parking, and aircraft fueling.

Indianapolis Terry Airport can only land aircraft weighing less than a total ramp weight of 60,000 lbs. provided the aircraft has dual wheel axles. Single wheel axle maximum weight is 45,000 lbs. The Boone Hamilton Homeowners Association's expert stated the airport could land aircraft weighing 180,000 lbs. which was in error. Source: Mid-States Engineering dated 1987.

Very few aircraft use the airport after dark. The Air Ambulances serving our community use the airport on a 24 hour basis frequently as well as organ transport flights.

Indianapolis Terry Airport is exempt from real estate taxes, however, the multi-million dollar aircraft based there are subject to property tax, fuel taxes, and Indiana State Excise taxes which contribute to Boone County schools.

Indianapolis Terry Airport is important to the economic viability of business and commerce in Boone, Hamilton, and Marion counties. Source Boone BZA office file letters 2001-2002. Several hundred letters are on file from Senator Lugar, local businesses and private citizens.

These funds brought jobs, capital improvements, and significant economic value to Boone and Hamilton counties tht exceeds 2.6 million annually. The State of Indiana, through its Aeronautic Commission and more recently Department of Transportation, Division of Aeronautics have continually issued Certification of Approval for Indianapolis Terry Airport.

Indianapolis Terry Airport is used by the Indiana State Police and other emergency service agencies important to Boone and Hamilton counties.
